Robotics startup Sunday has raised $165 million at a $1.15 billion valuation in a Series B round led by Coatue Management, with participation from Tiger Global, Benchmark, and Bain Capital Ventures. Founded by Tony Zhao and Cheng Chi, Sunday is building a household humanoid robot called Memo designed to assist with domestic tasks like laundry and clearing the table. The company emerged from stealth late last year and already has 1,000 people on its waitlist, with plans to launch its first autonomous robots by Thanksgiving. The funding reflects renewed investor optimism in household humanoid robotics, a space that has historically struggled due to insufficient training data for reliable object manipulation.
