Great post! It’s always interesting diving into html because it really can do so much more than most people think.

HTML5 has numerous features I have always been shocked that more people don’t exploit <code>in the wild</code>.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the thought behind its shift to <code>semantic markup</code> but am also fully unwilling to surrender the use of my <code>&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</code> tags (though these are easily also made semantic with the use of classes and IDs so the <code>&lt;div&gt;</code> hate is somewhat misguided given the stubborn laziness that is enshrined as a virtue in software development).
But still, most of the applications I have had for HTML5 features, including in React.js apps or Markdown files, works flawlessly so not sure why everyone is more inclined to pull in onerous JS dependencies over use the easy HTML options. Maybe this is a quirk of only knowing about these features because of when I learned HTML
