Google is launching AI image verification in the Gemini app using SynthID watermarking technology. Users can upload images and ask Gemini if they were created with Google AI. The feature checks for embedded SynthID watermarks that have already been applied to over 20 billion AI-generated pieces of content. Google plans to expand verification to video and audio formats, integrate C2PA metadata standards across products like Vertex AI and Google Ads, and eventually support content credentials from non-Google AI models.
