Researchers at EPFL's LASA lab have developed a framework called Kinematic Intelligence that enables skills demonstrated by humans to be transferred across robots with different mechanical structures. The system records human-demonstrated tasks via motion capture, converts them into general movement strategies, and automatically adapts them to the physical constraints of different robot designs. In an assembly line experiment, three different commercial robots successfully reproduced the same task sequence. The team plans to extend the framework to human-robot collaboration and natural language-based interaction, aiming to eliminate the need for technical programming expertise when deploying robots.
