Good article to raise awareness and quickly present some of the most common attacks. I did wish that they would be described a bit more in detail with links to their official definitions maybe.
There are a few points that I feel are missed though:
I don’t know how using the disabled attributes of validations on inputs helps you from a security standpoint. It gives you a false sense of security. NEVER rely just on client side validation. Even children nowadays can open the inspector and remove it in one swoop.
The __dangerouslySetInnrHTML attribute from react does not perform any validation. I don’t understand why it’s mentioned in this context. The name is so obscure and complicated for the simple reason that you should almost never use it. If you do, be sure to quadruple check the data you pass in is secure. With user generated content, better not use it at all.
The ZIP attack is a bit of a weird one. I don’t think it applies as much to the application as more to the deployment of it? You should probably use a properly validated deployment pipeline and not mess with manual zip files. Otherwise if you deal with users uploading zip files, then that’s a whole other ring of validation you got to do before unpacking, because, you guessed it, don’t trust user data.
