A software engineer and musician built an iPad Omnichord recreation using React Native, documenting the full process from tech stack selection to sound synthesis and UI implementation. The app uses three stacked oscillators (triangle and sine waves) with detuning and a lowpass filter to replicate the vintage Omnichord sound. Chord modeling is handled via interval maps and a chromatic scale array, enabling any chord type to be built from any root note. The strumplate is implemented as a 12-segment ascending arpeggio using React Native Gesture Handler's Pan gesture for swipe detection and multitouch support. The project is open source on GitHub.
