Padlet, an education platform used in 242 countries with ~40 million monthly users, built a real-time classroom analytics pipeline using ClickHouse Cloud. The system ingests ~8 billion events per month, delivering sub-second query results (45ms median, 690ms P99) to teachers during live lessons. The team of 65 with no dedicated data team chose ClickHouse Cloud for its fast ingestion, MergeTree/AggregatingMergeTree engines, materialized views, HyperLogLog for unique visitor counts, and managed ClickPipes ingestion. The entire pipeline went from setup to production in about one month, handling 14 requests per second with minimal operational overhead.
