I installed Linux Mint for a family member whose Windows 10 laptop was not compatible with Windows 11. Taught her how to use it, keep software updated, basic web browsing and LibreOffice stuff, etc. It’s worked great for her.

A few weeks ago asked on whatsapp in status for an old laptop, got one that was sold for 300€ in 2020 for free. It was completely unusable and the 8gb ram cannot even be upgraded. Well i installed linux mint xfce and now that thing runs like a charm.

I was a huge fan of mint- but they limited a lot of customization options

Even more impactful is an ssd upgrade for a boot drive. It will drastically improve performance and be rather inexpensive but have to search now because of the AI Chip shortage and crucial pulling out of the consumer market prices have increased but I still believe it will bring value to productivity
