Good idea. So far I use service worker to cache data for a offline first use. Using local storage is a simpler set up and therefore easier to adopt.

I think you can save the <code>expired</code> key instead of <code>timestamp</code> with value is <code>new Date().getTime() + cacheDuration </code>
