FotMob achieved a 2-3x spike in Wear OS installs — its largest single-day increase in 5 years — by implementing a cross-device discovery flow inside their Android phone app. Using the Wearable library's NodeClient and CapabilityClient APIs, the app detects connected Wear OS devices that don't yet have the watch app installed, then presents a half-page educational prompt. Tapping install launches the Play Store on the watch via RemoteActivityHelper. Within 48 hours of full rollout, the watch app gained over 1,500 new installs. Google has since released an In-App Install Prompts library to simplify this pattern further.
