How Delta Sharing Supports ABAC Sharing for Providers and Recipients

Databricks has added Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) support to Delta Sharing, allowing data providers to share ABAC-governed tables directly without duplicating them. Providers enforce their own policies on their side, while recipients can independently define and enforce their own ABAC policies—including row filtering and column masking based on governed tags—at query time. All actions are logged in Unity Catalog for auditing and compliance. This eliminates the need to manually recreate policy logic per recipient and supports enterprise governance requirements.
