Salesforce's AI Cloud Infrastructure Team built Luminary, a centralized release automation platform that replaced manual, human-gated approval workflows with a deterministic approval engine. Previously, release managers spent hours to days manually verifying SLO metrics, FIT results, and dependency health across fragmented dashboards and Slack threads. Luminary automates this by pulling real-time telemetry from Argus, validating cross-service dependency graphs, and triggering event-driven promotion workflows. The platform also automates Git release tagging, GUS work item creation, and GovCloud handoffs. A Golang-based background engine called Starfall was introduced to decouple heavy database synchronization from real-time Slack workflows. The result: nearly 600 release workflows now complete in seconds instead of hours, scaling with system health rather than reviewer availability.
