Tribler is a Bittorrent-compatible alternative to Youtube that aims to protect privacy, build trust, and reward content creators directly. It is a micro-economy without banks, advertisers, or government involvement. The project has over 2 million users and has been continuously improving for over 15 years. Tribler uses the Bittorrent protocol, NAT/firewall traversal, and a token economy to create a self-organizing P2P system. It also focuses on trust, identity, and trade, with the goal of re-inventing media and money.
