HN Skins 0.4.0 is a minor release of a browser userscript that applies custom visual themes to Hacker News. The update fixes a bug where certain skins obscured the commemorative black bar that appears at the top of HN when a notable figure passes away. Dark-themed skins now render the bar as a lighter grey to maintain contrast. The fix was prompted by noticing the issue during the tribute to Tony Hoare.
