Hello Microsoft Agent Framework (Bye Bye AutoGen!)

Microsoft has launched Agent Framework, a unified platform that merges AutoGen and Semantic Kernel. AutoGen will only receive bug fixes going forward, with no new features planned. The new framework introduces middleware for request/response processing and a Workflow API that replaces AutoGen's group chat patterns with deterministic, controllable orchestration. It supports sequential, concurrent, handoff, and magentic patterns, with capabilities to pause, resume, and debug workflows. The framework aims to provide both experimentation flexibility and production-ready features like observability and security. Microsoft has released a migration guide for existing AutoGen users.
