Electric trucking startup Harbinger has acquired autonomous driving software company Phantom AI in its first-ever acquisition, aiming to vertically integrate ADAS technology and diversify revenue streams. German automotive giant ZF Group has already agreed to license Phantom's driver assistance tech from Harbinger to sell to passenger car automakers, with significant revenue expected in 2027–2028. Harbinger plans to integrate Phantom's safety features—such as backup cameras, lane keeping, and automatic emergency braking—into its medium-duty electric truck chassis, a segment currently lacking basic safety tech. Phantom AI's 30 employees will remain in Mountain View while Harbinger is headquartered in Los Angeles.
