Hands on with X's new AI-powered custom feeds

X has launched AI-powered Custom Timeline feeds, using xAI's model to curate over 75 topic-based feeds personalized for individual users. The feature replaces X Communities, which is being shut down. Available only to Premium subscribers on iOS at launch, users can pin up to 10 topic feeds to their home tab. Each feed includes ads in the second position, potentially boosting X's struggling ad revenue. Topics range from broad categories like Technology and Sports to niche interests. The feeds are powered by semantic understanding rather than keywords or hashtags, with some concerns raised about potential political bias given past issues with the underlying AI model.
