Haiku Project

Monthly development report for the Haiku OS project covering hrev59356 through hrev59430. Key changes include: Mail app gains 'labels' feature replacing custom statuses; Deskbar gets a location selector UI; BGeolocation switches from discontinued Mozilla Location Service to Beacon DB; virtio_block driver disabled due to multithreading bugs; EHCI USB2 zero-copy optimization disabled after causing crashes; BTRFS gains Zstd-compressed file reading; XFS driver gets multiple fixes; Hyper-V VMbus driver added by a new contributor; pthread_barrier reworked to fix OpenGL hangs; TLB invalidation optimized on x86; and several filesystem crash fixes across NTFS, BFS, FAT, and RAMFS. Beta 6 release is getting closer but blocked by a kernel memory accounting regression under review and 5-6 remaining bugs.
