Hacktoberfest 2022 is approaching in October — a global event aimed at raising awareness about open source and encouraging developer contributions. The first 40,000 participants who complete the challenge can choose between an official t-shirt or having a tree planted in their name. This year, contributions extend beyond code to include other forms of participation. Both contributors and project maintainers benefit: lesser-known projects gain visibility and new contributors, while newcomers get guided entry points into open source.
