Basic-Fit, Europe's largest gym chain, has confirmed a cyberattack resulted in the theft of personal and bank data belonging to approximately 1 million members across six countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain, and Germany. Stolen data includes names, home and email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and bank details, though passwords were not accessed and identity documents are not stored. The unauthorized access was detected and stopped within minutes by internal monitoring. Basic-Fit has notified relevant data protection authorities and affected members, and reports no stolen data has appeared online so far. Members are advised to remain vigilant against phishing attempts.
