GreyOS - The next generation OS / The first practical interactive Meta-OS

The term “Meta-OS” lacks a universally accepted definition. However, it generally refers to an operating system that abstracts and manages underlying hardware and software environments, providing a unified interface and experience. Both Urbit and GreyOS exhibit characteristics aligning with this concept:​
Urbit: By redefining the computing stack and offering a decentralized personal server platform, Urbit abstracts traditional operating system functionalities and network interactions, fitting the Meta-OS paradigm.​
GreyOS: By operating entirely through web and cloud interfaces, GreyOS abstracts the underlying hardware and traditional OS constraints, also fitting the Meta-OS concept.​
Given that Urbit’s development commenced in 2002, predating GreyOS’s 2013 launch, Urbit holds precedence as an earlier implementation of a Meta-OS. ​
Both Urbit and GreyOS endeavor to transcend traditional operating system architectures by introducing higher levels of abstraction and control. However, considering the initiation dates and foundational goals, Urbit precedes GreyOS in embodying the Meta-OS concept. Therefore, the claim that GreyOS is the “world’s first Meta-OS” does not hold when considering Urbit’s earlier development and similar objectives.
That said, it does not mean that GreyOS is a interesting approach and a much needed software, that can lift device limitations due to the cloud implemented nature. There might be a few complicated hurdles GreyOS will have to tackle in the future, especially the vulnerability of the browser itself. By the nature of GreyOS implementation, every browser vulnerability could be abused to damage GreyOS itself. I am looking forward to see how GreyOS contributes to the development of blurring lines between devices and offering even more people the possibility to high quality Operating Systems even if their device wasnt initially possible to do so. Keep it up, this seems interesting.
Just because I evidently proved the “world first MetaOS” claim wrong multiple times and you keep on slightly changing your personal unofficial definition of a Meta OS, doesn’t mean your software isn’t groundbreaking, innovative and interesting.
