GrafanaCON 2026 in Barcelona brought a wave of announcements from Grafana Labs. Grafana 13 launches with suggested dashboards, dynamic dashboards GA, Git Sync GA, and the new Grafana Advisor tool. Grafana Assistant (AI-powered agent) is now accessible to self-managed OSS and Enterprise users via a one-click Grafana Cloud connection, with new skills, automations, Slack/Teams integrations, a hosted MCP server, and a gcx CLI tool. AI Observability in Grafana Cloud (public preview) enables monitoring of agentic workloads including real-time behavior tracking and output evaluation. An open source benchmark, o11y-bench, was released for evaluating AI agents on observability tasks. On the OSS side: Loki gets Kafka-backed ingestion and a redesigned query engine delivering up to 20x less data scanned; Grafana Labs acquired Logline for needle-in-the-haystack log search. Pyroscope 2.0 rearchitects the continuous profiling database for lower cost and complexity. k6 2.0 (upcoming) adds AI-driven testing subcommands, a Playwright-inspired Assertions API, and a formalized extension ecosystem. A new Grafana Marketplace was announced for plugin distribution. Golden Grot Awards recognized standout dashboards including a lunar lander mission telemetry system.
