Grab will acquire Delivery Hero's Foodpanda business in Taiwan for $600 million in cash, marking its first expansion beyond Southeast Asia. The deal, pending regulatory approval, is expected to close in the second half of 2026 with full platform transition by early 2027. This follows Uber's failed attempt to acquire the same business in 2025, which was blocked by Taiwan's antitrust regulator. Grab would gain roughly 52% market share in Taiwan's food delivery market, positioning it as a direct competitor to Uber Eats rather than creating a near-monopoly. Foodpanda's Taiwan business generated approximately $1.8 billion in GMV.
