Depending on who you talk to, VS Code is already outpaced by Neovim. My issues with using something like IDX is that you’re having to program something through a browser tab. I imagine there’d be some lag/unresponsiveness if the service was busy or internet connection was unstable. Using Google collaboration tools for programming also seems unnecessary as people already use the free, portable, and cross-platform Git. Setup Git on a local file server and then you don’t have to worry about any of that.

I really don’t understand why google waste money on products that will be found in Google graveyard after a year.

A browser-based IDE locked behind the Google ecosystem? May be useful for Angular devs. Certainly not a VS Code killer.
Doing all development work inside a browser also sounds terrible.
