Google has released SpeciesNet, an open-source AI model designed to identify animal species from camera trap photos. Trained on over 65 million images, SpeciesNet can classify images into over 2,000 labels including animal species and other objects. The model aims to assist researchers in analyzing wildlife data more efficiently and is part of Google's Wildlife Insights platform. SpeciesNet is available on GitHub under an Apache 2.0 license.
