Google has open-sourced Scion, an experimental multi-agent orchestration testbed described as a 'hypervisor for agents.' It runs specialized AI coding agents (Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex, OpenCode) as isolated concurrent processes, each with its own container, git worktree, and credentials. Scion supports dynamic task graphs, distinct agent lifecycles (long-lived and ephemeral), and multiple containerization runtimes including Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes. Its core philosophy favors isolation over behavioral constraints, letting agents operate freely within infrastructure-level guardrails. Google also released a demo game codebase showing multi-agent collaboration in action.
