Google has announced the Agentic Data Cloud, an AI-native enterprise data architecture designed to evolve static data platforms into dynamic reasoning engines capable of supporting autonomous AI agents at scale. The architecture introduces three pillars: a universal context engine, agentic-first developer experiences, and an AI-native cross-cloud lakehouse. Alongside this, Google launched the Cloud Data Agent Kit (Preview), a portable suite of tools that integrates into existing developer environments like VS Code, Gemini CLI, and Claude Code, enabling autonomous orchestration of data workflows using frameworks like dbt, Apache Spark, and Airflow. The kit includes specialized agents for data engineering, data science, and database observability. Google Cloud has also fully adopted Model Context Protocol (MCP) to provide secure, universal agent access to data assets across BigQuery, Spanner, AlloyDB, Cloud SQL, and Looker.
