The change comes after persistent user complaints that Ask Photos was less accurate and slower than the original search. Previously, disabling Gemini in Google Photos required navigating buried settings. Google Photos lead Shimrit Ben-Yair confirmed the move was driven by user feedback and noted improvements to popular search queries.
