Google has introduced an agent step to Opal, its AI-powered mini-app builder. Powered by Gemini 3 Flash, the new agent enables autonomous workflows that plan, reason, and execute tasks on behalf of users. Instead of manually selecting models, developers can now choose an agent in the 'generate' step, which automatically selects the right tools and models—such as Web Search or Veo—to accomplish the user's goal. The agent also supports persistent memory via Google Sheets, dynamic routing to decide next steps, and interactive chat to gather missing information from users.
