Godot has been riding a wave of success the last few years, but what it has lacked is chart topping hits.   This last month that changed with not one but TWO titles hitting top 10 on the Steam sales chart.  Additionally Mega Crit, the creators of the Godot-powered smash hit Slay the Spire 2 just upped their commitment to sponsoring Godot game engine development.

Slay the Spire 2, built with the Godot game engine, has become one of Steam's top-selling and most-played games with 322,000 concurrent players. Developer MegaCrit switched from Unity to Godot after Unity's controversial 2023 runtime fee fiasco. Road to Vostok, another Unity-to-Godot migrant, also cracked the Steam top 10. MegaCrit has now upgraded their Godot Foundation sponsorship to corporate platinum tier, contributing at least €36,000/year. This marks a milestone for Godot's visibility as a serious commercial game engine.
