GNOME 50, codenamed 'Tokyo', is now available with a wide range of improvements. Parental controls gain screen time limits, bedtime schedules, and a web filtering backend. The Orca screen reader sees major updates including global settings, automatic language switching, and Wayland Mouse Review support. A new Reduced Motion accessibility option has been added. The Files app gets faster thumbnail loading, reduced memory usage, and UI refinements. Calendar adds an attendee list, ICS export, and keyboard navigation. Remote desktop now supports Vulkan/VA-API hardware acceleration, HiDPI scaling, camera redirection, and Kerberos authentication. Display handling improvements include VRR and fractional scaling enabled by default, low-latency cursor during VRR, NVIDIA performance fixes, Wayland color management protocol v2, and HDR screen sharing. Several new apps join GNOME Circle, including Gradia for screenshot annotation and Constrict for video compression.
