GitLab 18.11 introduces spending controls for GitLab Credits used with the Duo Agent Platform. Organizations can now set subscription-level monthly spending caps and per-user credit limits via the Customers Portal and GraphQL API. When a cap is reached, Duo Agent Platform access is paused until the next billing cycle while the rest of GitLab remains accessible. Billing managers receive email notifications when subscription caps are hit, and admins can view blocked users and adjust limits. These controls address a key barrier to AI adoption: unpredictable spend. The feature supports both flat per-user caps and custom overrides for individual users, enabling enterprise chargeback workflows and equitable credit distribution across large teams.
