GitHub is set to enhance its security offerings by unbundling its GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS) suite into two standalone products: GitHub Secret Protection and GitHub Code Security. Starting April 1, 2025, these new products will be available to a broader audience, including GitHub Team plan customers, which previously was limited to GitHub Enterprise subscribers.
GitHub Secret Protection aims to help prevent secret leaks and will be priced at $19 per month per active committer. This service focuses on safeguarding sensitive information such as API keys and tokens to ensure they do not get exposed inadvertently in the codebase.
GitHub Code Security, on the other hand, will detect and fix vulnerabilities within the code. This service will be priced at $30 per month per active committer. It aims to provide robust protection against potential security threats by offering advanced vulnerability detection features.
By separating these security tools into individual products, GitHub aims to make advanced security features more scalable, accessible, and affordable for a broader range of users. Customers on the GitHub Team plan will now have the opportunity to enhance their security measures through these new offerings on a consumption-based pricing model.
