GitHub Copilot is being upgraded with new features, including agent mode and Copilot Edits, now generally available in VS Code. The agent mode allows the AI to iterate on its own code, recognize errors, and fix them automatically. Copilot Edits combines chat and inline changes across multiple files in a conversational manner. Additionally, GitHub introduces Project Padawan, an autonomous SWE agent designed to manage critical tasks and produce fully tested pull requests. These enhancements aim to further integrate AI into the development workflow and empower developers.
