GitHub Copilot is introducing two new usage limit restrictions rolling out over the next few weeks: service reliability limits and model-specific capacity limits. When a developer hits a service reliability limit, they must wait for their session to reset. As a workaround, developers can switch to an alternative model or use Copilot's Auto mode, which intelligently selects the best available model based on real-time system health. Additionally, GitHub is retiring the Opus 4.6 Fast model for Copilot Pro+ users, recommending Opus 4.6 as an alternative. The changes are driven by high concurrency and intense power-user usage straining shared infrastructure.
