GitHub Copilot in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) 22.5 is now generally available with new capabilities to interact with the results pane. Users can now ask Copilot questions directly about data in the results grid, execution plans, and messages tab without manually copying or opening additional windows. Key tips include specifying row ranges when querying results, being mindful of large result sets since data is sent to the model, and using custom instructions files to tailor Copilot responses including preferred T-SQL formatting and response style. Agent mode is also on the roadmap for further UI interaction capabilities.
