A class action lawsuit has been filed against GitHub copilot which says the defendants have violated the legal rights of a vast number of creators who posted code or other work under certain open-source licenses on GitHub. The issue seems to be that of attribution Ratter the lack of attribution in this case.

Glad to see this. I think we all know that it won’t go anywhere (Microsoft’s legal team is honestly more productive and useful than their engineers), but I’m at least happy to see people bring up the attribution errors. GitHub Copilot is a massive disservice to devs. We really should stand against ‘Steal our code and sell it back to us’ as a service.

Drop the price by $5/mo and I’ll be happy!
Jokes aside, GitHub should have done a more thorough legal check on this before making Copilot. I mean, it was blindingly obvious at least one license was gonna be ambiguous on this, if not against it.
