Podroid is an open-source Android app that runs Linux containers on your phone without root access. It spins up a lightweight Alpine Linux VM using QEMU (TCG, no KVM) and provides a full Podman container runtime with a built-in xterm-compatible terminal. Key features include OCI image support, persistent storage via overlayfs, internet access and port forwarding, and a self-contained APK requiring no Termux or host binaries. Requires an arm64 Android 14+ device with ~150 MB storage. The project is GPL v2 licensed and buildable from source.
