GIMP 3.2 is now available for all major desktop platforms, arriving one year after GIMP 3.0 as part of a new streamlined release cadence. Key additions include Link Layers (similar to Photoshop Smart Objects) for non-destructive editing with auto-updating external source images, vector layer creation via the Path tool, and 20 new MyPaint brush presets with dynamic painting improvements. Other highlights: SVG, PDF vector, JPEG 2000, and Photoshop PSB export support; improved PSD import with more layer styles and .pat pattern file support; an enhanced on-canvas Text Editor with repositioning and formatting shortcuts; a new GEGL Filter browser and Vibrance filter; and various UX tweaks. Ubuntu users can install via the Snap package from App Center.
