GHC 9.12.4 release candidate 1 is now available for testing. This bug-fix release addresses a critical code generation regression causing incorrect results in sub-word division, numerous register allocation bugs leading to data corruption, several compiler crashes (CSE, SetLevels, implicit parameters, type-class specialiser), LLVM backend miscompilation of bit manipulation operations, recompilation issues with type/data family instances, eventlog shutdown deadlocks, and RTS lost wakeups. Additional fixes cover the bytecode compiler, PPC native code generator, Wasm backend, Windows split sections support, and improved backtrace support. The final release is planned for the week of 26 March 2026.
