Alpine’s reactivity is solely event-driven and you have to manually toggle it from outside, similar to mithril.js.
With 14kb minified and gzipped, it is decidedly bigger than preact or Solid.js. Only compared to very large frameworks, like react or angular, it seems small.
Also, if your JS breaks, you’re left with incomplete and invalid markup. There might be valid use cases, but for most applications, I would suggest a more sophisticated framework.

Alpine is good choice when you need a little bit reactivity and better choice than jQuery. But I think petite-vue is good choice too and is around half the size of Alpine (it doesn’t ship with a transition system).

Alpine is great its a huge step above jQuery.
