100% true. Absolutely important to have time for your self regularly, get bored, get creative and make something out of it. Sadly, many people don’t have the time or at least not enough.

Even better : go for a run in a natural setting / park WITHOUT headphones!!
You will enjoy combined benefits:

I never understood why people listen to music while running.
For me it has always been a rare opportunity to escape the constant overstimulation (I pictured it like “brain defragmentation”)

Lucky for me I’m an expert at getting bored with everything.

This is brilliant. Love it! To experience boredom and resist the urge to fill the void with music, social media or what not.
Most innovations have come from a mix of boredom and frustration.

If the phrase “slacking off” makes you feel a little bit guilty, then I guess “living life” is a good alternative. I mean, the world is crazy as it is so why not truly live the life you are given, experience it first hand, get out and let your intuition guide you on what to do next.
I recently watched <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOsLIiBStEs" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Soul (2020)</a> from Pixar and it made me realize that many people are so self-absorbed by what they think will make them happy. But at the end of the day, true happiness is always from what’s inside all of us. Our mind will be at peace and creative ideas will flow naturally.
So go on, do your thing. Live a little.
