From registrar to deployed: buying a domain inside Railway

Railway now lets users search, purchase, and configure custom domains entirely within the platform. The feature eliminates the need to switch between tabs and manually copy DNS records. For domains already managed by Cloudflare, a one-click Domain Connect integration automatically adds the required CNAME and TXT records. For new domains, users can search across 250+ TLDs, get AI-powered name suggestions via Claude Haiku, and complete purchase in a few clicks — with DNS and SSL certificates configured automatically. The search is optimized using the Fastly domain research API, Redis caching with stale-while-revalidate, and a WebSocket-based backend. Purchased domains land in a workspace inventory and can be attached to services inline. Intentionally excluded from v1: domain transfers between workspaces, transferring domains out of Railway, and manual DNS record management.
