Microsoft Agent Framework (MAF) agents can now be deployed to production using Foundry Hosted Agents, a managed compute service inside Azure Foundry Agent Service. The integration provides containerized, VM-isolated per-session sandboxes with scale-to-zero economics, persistent filesystem state, built-in Entra ID identity, automatic OpenTelemetry observability via Application Insights, versioning with canary/blue-green rollouts, and support for both OpenAI-compatible Responses and custom Invocations protocols. Deploying requires only a few lines of code in .NET or Python, and the azd CLI handles image building, ACR push, compute provisioning, and endpoint creation automatically. The feature is currently in preview with GA planned soon.
