From Laravel Forge to Cloud: How Filament 3xed Performance

Filament, one of the most popular open source Laravel packages with 23 million installs, migrated from Laravel Forge to Laravel Cloud after hitting capacity limits during traffic spikes. The migration delivered a 3x improvement in request speed (2x from Cloud infrastructure, plus another boost from enabling Laravel Octane), autoscaling that handled 34 million network responses in two weeks without manual intervention, and 4x smaller replicas per instance. The entire migration of two applications took Dan Harrin just three hours. Key infrastructure changes included moving to Serverless Postgres, Laravel Valkey for caching, and separate worker clusters. While Cloud costs are comparable to the previous Forge setup, the capabilities — autoscaling, managed Octane, serverless database — represent a fundamentally different infrastructure tier.
