French satellite startup Univity (formerly Constellation Technologies & Operations) has raised €27M in a Series A round led by Blast and Expansion Ventures, bringing total financing to €68M. The Paris-based company is building a wholesale satellite connectivity infrastructure for telecom operators using 5G mmWave spectrum, targeting a constellation of at least 1,600 satellites in very low Earth orbit (~375km altitude). Unlike Starlink's direct-to-consumer model, Univity acts as a neutral infrastructure provider enabling operators to extend existing 5G services from space. Funds will support the uniShape demonstration programme — two prototype VLEO satellites to be launched by 2027 — ahead of commercial constellation deployment from 2028. The project has significant French state backing including €31M from CNES under France 2030.
