Four researchers with MIT ties have been named 2026 Searle Scholars, receiving $450,000 each in flexible funding over three years. MIT faculty Sven Dorkenwald, a computational neuroscientist mapping connectomes, and Whitney Henry, who studies ferroptosis for cancer therapy, are among the honorees. MIT alumni Irene Kaplow (Carnegie Mellon) and Jared Mayers (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center) were also recognized for their work in regulatory genomics and bacterial metabolism, respectively.
