Fotini Christia has been appointed as the new director of MIT's Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) effective July 1. With a distinguished background in social sciences, data science, and computational tools, Christia brings a wealth of experience to the role. She has a notable history of interdisciplinary research, particularly in the Muslim world, and a focus on integrating AI tools into public policy. Christia succeeds Noelle Selin, who served as interim director for the past academic year.
