Forescout's BRIDGE:BREAK research initiative has uncovered 22 previously unknown vulnerabilities in serial-to-IP converters made by Lantronix and Silex. These devices bridge legacy industrial equipment to modern networks and are widely deployed in utilities, manufacturing, healthcare, and telecommunications. The flaws could enable remote code execution, authentication bypass, firmware manipulation, denial of service, and data tampering. Tens of thousands of these devices are exposed on the internet, broadening the attack surface. Forescout recommends applying vendor patches, removing default credentials, enforcing strong authentication, network segmentation, and avoiding direct internet exposure.
