For Coding Which AI Agent worth paying for?

I voted Codex. Claude Code still feels strongest for raw coding quality, but the market is shifting from model hype to pricing predictability. If a tool is brilliant but burns too many tokens on small tasks, that becomes a workflow problem, not just a billing problem. Cursor’s Max mode, Copilot’s weaker value story, and Anthropic’s pricing shifts all push me toward Codex as the more sustainable choice right now.

I see more people voted for CloudCode but, I have question that doesn’t it consume more token compare to output generated in latest Opus 4.7 then earlier version. Because i heard that latest Opus 4.7 burns more token for even small and easy task

I can’t vote on this yet. I’m currently experimenting and work only acts so quickly to get subscriptions activated. My team started with Copilot, which, I have to say, has been decent when used in a harness like <code>pi</code>. The plugin burned credits much faster, regardless of model.
I had Claude for maybe 2 days. The 5-hour or whatever refresh is a joke and highly limiting, so I had my sub canceled. It was also hard to jump from <code>pi</code> to Claude and back again. Claude was strangely slower and much more verbose. I also didn’t take the time to fully set it up with things like the <code>caveman</code> skill.
Next up to try is an OpenAI sub; probably ChatGPT Business. Hard to say if the seat type matters as the sub hasn’t started yet. I’m hopeful, given that 99.99% of my usage with Copilot has been a OpenAI model, that it’s a smooth experience. But I have to get access before I can comment on “is it worth it?”
And I don’t clearly remember, but I seem to recall Cursor just being expensive, so it hasn’t come up again.
